113 grams butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 small tablespoon golden syrup
1 small tablespoon cocoa
1 cup flour
handful of cut up walnuts
handful of cut up dates
Date and Walnut Shortbread
Cream butter and sugar and golden syrup.
Add cocoa, flour, walnuts, and mix.
Spread half of mixture (this recipe I think says “on tin”, so you could use a greased/lined shallow baking tin, or perhaps a pyrex dish), spread dates, then put rest of mixture on.
Bake in a “moderate” oven (try 180°C until very light golden, not fully browned).
