• 113 grams butter

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 small tablespoon golden syrup

  • 1 small tablespoon cocoa

  • 1 cup flour

  • handful of cut up walnuts

  • handful of cut up dates

Date and Walnut Shortbread


Cream butter and sugar and golden syrup.

Add cocoa, flour, walnuts, and mix.

Spread half of mixture (this recipe I think says “on tin”, so you could use a greased/lined shallow baking tin, or perhaps a pyrex dish), spread dates, then put rest of mixture on.

Bake in a “moderate” oven (try 180°C until very light golden, not fully browned).
